Many were taken aback Tuesday, November 30, 2021, when the police at Mile 3, Bamenda ignored an accident victim and were rather running behind car documents.
A girl was on a bike when they were knocked down by a township taxi.
The child was left unattended as blood oozed out of her leg. The Police were busy squeezing out a bribe from a driver.
“Why not take her to the hospital first? Her life is more important than those documents you are holding,” a lady in a private car said.
Her question triggered a barrage of others from many who said they would have loved to carry the child to the hospital but for the fact that they are afraid.
“You can be shot just like that and nothing will happen,” a commercial bike rider said as he left the scene in anger.
It is still not clear whether the child was finally taken to the hospital given that many people left after realizing the police officers were becoming uncomfortable with their presence.
