A Pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon evicted by irate Christians.
A Pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon has been ‘vomited’ by his own Christians. Dozens of them gathered in protest to send him packing.
On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Christians of the Dibanda congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) rose against their pastor, accusing him of multiple acts of misconduct.
In a video that has now gone viral on different social media platforms, Rev. Pastor Abong Ezekiel, who is dressed in black and wearing his clerical outfit, stood surrounded by a group of angry Christians.
While many of them held placards bearing their grievances, others could be heard saying, “You called us unworthy, you called us useless, you said we are dirty, but you will still collect money from us.”
The same irate Christians can be heard saying, “We had told you we don’t want you here; we organized a goodbye ceremony, but you remained adamant.”
Most of the Christians who were women were members of the Christian Women Fellowship (CMF). Some men of the Christian Men Fellowship (CMF) were also present.
It is not clear whether Pastor Ezekiel is being sent out of his home or his church residence.
But the Christians can also be heard saying, “We built a house for you; when we came there, you said we are dirty; you kept raining insults on us; we are tired of your insults.”
Pastor Ezekiel can be seen alighting a motorcycle (commonly known as an Okada) and holding a bag. It is not known where his destination was, but the Christians were happy to finally see him go.
In an exclusive interview with MMI, the pastor said “I wouldn’t precipitate my departure, my exit from the place. I will like to work until when the Lord says, ‘Go elsewhere’. I have a very good relationship with the people. It’s just that not all will like you. Some will hate you, some will love you. Courage brothers do not stumble.” Read more here
The authorities of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon have not issued a statement on the matter as of yet. It’s unusual for a group of Christians to turn on their pastor and demand his resignation.
