President of Lékié Chiefs’ Association President stands against justice, dismisses appeal by other Chiefs to burry Martinez Zogo in Biya’s village

Professor Tsala Ndzomo, President of the association of Lekie traditional rulers, has stood against the wheels of justice by dismissing yesterday’s statement made by other Chiefs of the area, who called for a ghost town and refused to burry Martinez Zogo’s mutilated body in the Division.

He distanced himself from points made by his fellow Chiefs, who appealed in a statement on January 26, for Biya to let them burry their murdered son in his family vault at Mvomeka’a.

Prof Ndzomo claimed the said traditional rulers’ outing did not align with their internal rules.

“No fraction of the traditional leaders of Lekie has been mandated to communicate to the attention of public opinion any message to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, about the villainous crime perpetrated on the person of the journalist Martinez ZOGO,” Prof Ndzomo said.

He added: “The viral message on social networks allegedly delivered in their name, does not respect both in form and substance, the canons and forms of expression of the traditional chieftaincy of Lékie and the usual channels through which the latter communicates with the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul Biya.”

Professor Tsala in his statement, also condemned what he called “brutal killing” of Martinez Zogo, but stressed that the call for justice and investigations must be done “in strict respect of the laws of the Republic.”

Yesterday, some Chiefs of Lekie, the Division of origin of Martinez Zogo, who was murdered and his mutilated body dumped on the outskirts of Yaounde on January 22, said they will not receive his corpse.

Reading the message at the scene where Zogo’s battered body was found, they also declared a ghost town in Lekie on January 30 aimed to mourn the late radio host and Manager of Amplitude FM.

They called on the government to ensure his killers are punished.

Contrarily, Prof Ndzomo said traditional rulers will invoke the souls of the ancestors, so that a mystical and appropriate punishment may be administered to the direct and indirect killers of Martinez Zogo.

Martinez Zogo, managing director of Amplitude FM, a private radio station in Yaounde, was abducted January 17 and his mutilated body was discovered last Sunday at Soa on the outskirts of Yaounde.

Be his death, he had been investigating alleged embezzlement by pro-government billionaire Amougou Belinga, CEO of Anecdote media group.
