The President of the North West Regional Assembly (NWRA), Prof. Fru Angwafo III has taken many by surprise after he ignored to mention the crimes perpetrated on civilians by government forces and separatist fighters.

On day one of the 11th Ordinary session of the Assembly, Prof. Fru Angwafo III failed to say a word about the recent killings in Kedjom Keku, Belo, and many others.

The Ordinary session is coming at a time when the Bamenda-Mbengwi Road, Bamenda-Fundong, and Bamenda-Ndop Road are blocked.

Not even the deaths of government troops on the battlefront attracted the attention of the President.

Worthy of note is the fact that condemning military atrocities on civilians has been a no-go area for both elected and appointed officials of the region.

What many find hard to understand is whether they have been prohibited by some higher powers or they have just decided to function like that.

“I have never heard an official of this region condemn military atrocities on civilians, but when the guilty party is the separatist fighters, they will mount rooftops and condemn with all energy. Leaders who are truly the people’s representatives will not behave the way ours are functioning. They are only helping to confirm the belief that they were only appointed through elections,” Ade C. a member of a civil society told MIMI.

The Anglophone Crisis which is getting deadlier as days go by has already killed more than six thousand people and displaced millions both internally and externally.
