Prof Nalova Says Fako Should Vote Biya to Compensate for Her CPDM Appointment

The Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, who was recently appointed as head of the CPDM’s permanent delegation to Fako Division in the South West Region, has called on party militants to “compensate” President Paul Biya by voting for him in the October presidential election.

She made the call on Saturday, April 5, during a grand homecoming in Limbe, following her elevation into the ruling party’s central committee.

President Biya appointed Nalova, serving as both the national chairman of CPDM and the presidential candidate.

According to the minister, the people of Fako Division owe Biya gratitude for placing her in the party’s inner circle.

She believes that payback should come in the form of unwavering support for the president at the polls.

“…this is pay-hack time. The President has given us something, and we have to give it back to him,” she told party supporters.

“All of us in Fako are Fakorians. We are nothing else but Fakorians. We think Fako, we talk Fako, we act Fako. Let’s all stand and act as one. I have faith in the people of Fako.”

Promises CPDM Party Secretariat in Limbe

Minister Nalova also used the occasion to announce the upcoming construction of a befitting CPDM party secretariat in Limbe.

The planned structure, according to her, will feature a 1,000-seat hall and a training centre, among other facilities.

“I am delighted to announce a transformative project, the imminent construction of a modern, state-of-the-art CPDM Party Secretariat right here in Limbe. This magnificent structure shall have offices for party activities, a training centre, a hall with the capacity to host 1,000 persons and lots more,” Prof Nalova said.

Although the CPDM already has a secretariat in Limbe, Prof. Nalova believes the new edifice will offer a more befitting space for party functions and training.

She assured party militants that her delegation will serve all party members equally, without discrimination, regardless of their section or position.

The event at Manga Williams Avenue featured dozens of CPDM supporters, a turnout that left Minister Nalova moved.

To her, the warm reception and enthusiastic show of support were proof of “solidarity” and a “profound spirit of inspiration.”

Minister Nalova’s Career Path

In 2017, authorities removed Nalova Lyonga from her role as vice chancellor of the University of Buea.

Shortly after, they appointed her as board chair of the Douala General Hospital.

In 2018, President Biya appointed Prof. Nalova Minister of Secondary Education, making her the first Anglophone to ever occupy the post.

Over the years, she has gradually climbed the political ladder, and her recent appointment into the CPDM decision-making circle marks another milestone in her political career.
