Public Health Minister, Dr. Manaouda Malachie Expresses Optimism on Covid-19 Vaccination Rates

According to Cameroon’s Minister of Public Health, there has been a significant improvement in vaccination rates against Covid-19 in Cameroon.

Dr. Manaouda Malachie says the anti-Covid-19 vaccination agenda has plummeted immensely recently, paving the way for more vaccinations in the country.

The Minister revealed via a tweet that the hesitation figures against the vaccine as of now have been halved since the vaccine started being administered.

Despite the hesitation figures significantly dropping, however, national coverage has remained very low as just 2.9% of Cameroon’s population has been completely vaccinated.

Nevertheless, the state has not relented its efforts and has its target set at a 20% coverage as soon as possible.

Health personnel in Cameroon also believe that communication around vaccines must be accentuated to sway skeptical Cameroonians.
