Qatar 2022: What are Cameroon’s chances to qualify for knockout?

The first round of games at the FIFA world cup in Qatar are now over, and almost all teams now know where they stand in terms of knockout rounds qualification.

Placed in Group H alongside Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are hanging on a thread having lost their first fixture 1-0 against Switzerland.

The loss however means the Indomitable Lions sit 3rd of the group, ahead of Serbia based on goal difference. The Lions will meet Serbia next, in a game which will be aust win match for both teams if either wants to keep hopes of qualification alive heading to the final round of games.

Should the Lions win against Serbia, then another victory in their final group game against Brazil will automatically place them into the knockout stage.

However, a win against the Serbians and a draw with Brazil will leave the Lions at the mercy of the outcome of the Serbia Switzerland game.

A win against Serbia and a defeat against the Brazilians will send the Lions packing back to Cameroon.

Next Group G fixtures, November 28:

*Cameroon – Serbia (11 am)
*Brazil – Switzerland (5pm)
