Regional Election: Chief dies in Garoua hours after voting

A traditional ruler in Garoua, North region of the country has reportedly died minutes after he was ferried out of his sick bed to vote.

The traditional ruler in his 70’s died in Garoua, just some hours after he was carried to the polling station to cast his vote.

The deceased is a third class chief who was taken close to 150 kilometers away from his palace at Troua to go and vote in Garoua.

He was taken out of his palace despite his poor health conditions.

Credible reports reveal that the traditional ruler collapsed some minutes after leaving the polling station.

He later died some few minutes later and has been transported back to Troua by the some family members who brought him to Garoua to cast his vote.

Elsewhere in the country, precisely in the Northwest, there have been reportedly some agitations from separatist fighters who are threatening to disrupt the election processes in the region.

In Kumbo, there are reports coming in which say there is a tense atmosphere as sporadic gunshots have been heard from various parts of the town.
