RFI Gives Minister Sadi Right of Reply After a Complain on May 10 Program

Radio France International, (RFI) has responded to Minister Réne Sadi’s complain against one of its journalists for the content of his program.

RFI in its response says it regrets the publication was followed by an exchange between its staff and Atangana Manda, Director of the Media and Public Opinion Observatory at Cameroon’s Ministry of communication.

This comes after the publication of the program “Le Debat Africain” on Sunday 10th May. While regretting that the information had already been aired, RFI Director, Cecile Megie says she reaffirms full confidence in the reporter, Alain Foka.

Cecile Megie also condemned remarks aimed at the journalist which she says had ethnic overtones found in a May 11 message from the government official.
“We cannot accept ethnic overtones against one of our collaborators,” RFI said.

The Director however gave a favourable response to Atangana Manda’s request for a right of reply.

“We reiterate our agreement as expressed on Tuesday, May 12, to follow up on your request for a right of reply which could be recorded at your convenience with Mr. Alain Foka for our next edition of the magazine “Le Debat African” on Sunday, May 17th” she says.

The right of reply is expected to be aired tomorrow May 17.
