Ronaldo’s Record of Most Goals in Football, Who else on list?

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored more goals in men’s football than any other player in history. Cristiano Ronaldo has become the all-time top scorer in official matches, recognised by FIFA, after scoring a hat-trick for Al Nassr. He has now scored 859 goals in his career, surpassing Josef Bican’s previous record of 805 and hotly trailing Lionel Messi with 821 goals.

Ronaldo has now scored 859 goals in his career for club and country. He is the all-time leading scorer for Al Nassar, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Portugal. He has also won the Champions League five times and the Ballon d’Or five times.

Ronaldo’s goal-scoring record is all the more impressive considering that he is now 38 years old. He is still one of the most prolific goal-scorers in the world, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

The record for most goals in men’s football has been debated for many years. Some historians claim that Josef Bican of Austria scored more than 800 goals in his career, but his records are incomplete. Pele also claimed to have scored more than 1,000 goals in his career, but that figure includes friendly and exhibition matches.

According to Sporting News, which reached out to FIFA to confirm the list, the world governing body said it does not keep an official list of the statistics of the goals scored by individual players. That hasn’t stopped other outlets from listing the following top 10 “FIFA-recognized goals” totals:

Ranking of Players and Goals Scored
1. Cristiano Ronaldo 859
2. Lionel Messi 821
3. Josef Bican 805
4. Romario 775
5. Pele 762

6 Ferenc Puskas 729 goals

7 Jimmy Jones: 647 goals

8 Robert Lewandowski 638 goals

9 Gerd Muller 634 goals

10Eusebio 619 goals

Ronaldo’s goal-scoring record is even more impressive considering that he has only played in the top leagues of Europe. He has scored goals for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr. He has also been a prolific goalscorer for the Portugal national team, scoring 127 goals in 203 appearances.

Ronaldo has scored more than half of his goals at Real Madrid, with 450.

He’s bagged 145 at Manchester United, as well as 127 with the Portugal national team, 101 with Juventus, and 5 with his first club, Sporting CP. He has 31 goals for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

In 2022/23, he finished 5th in the Saudi Pro League scoring table, despite joining in midseason. One season before, his 18 Premier League goals in 2021/22 were good for third in England’s top division. In 2020/21, he finished as the top scorer at Euro 2021 as well as in the Italian Serie A season with Juventus (29 goals).

There may be plenty more goals coming to add to that grand total, given Ronaldo is showing he can still score in his latest spell at Al Nassr.
