Samuel Eto’o Fils, President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has announced his intention to donate aid to victims of the recent floods that affected several localities in the Far North region of Cameroon.

In a message expressing his solidarity with the victims, Samuel Eto’o did not specify the quantity or amount of the aid. Eto’o said that the disaster “concerns all of us, wherever we live in Cameroon.”

“I extend my humble support and solidarity to the affected populations and families. Beyond words, and in recognition of the commendable efforts by His Excellency Paul Biya, our Head of State, I am making a symbolic financial donation to show my deep solidarity with the impacted families,” Samuel Eto’o said in a social media post.

Heavy rains in the Far North region led to severe flooding less than two weeks ago, affecting communities such as Diamare, Logone and Chari, Mayo-Danay, and Mayo-Tsanaga divisions.

The floods resulted in a humanitarian crisis, especially in Yagoua, where the situation worsened last Thursday after a bridge collapsed, splitting the city in two.

At least 11 people have died, and 200,000 people have been affected, including pregnant women and children. The floods have also destroyed 103 hectares of crops, caused the loss of 1,178 livestock, and flooded over 100 schools.
