Sanaga-Maritime SDO threatens to seize projects from contractors

The Senior Divisional Officer of the Sanaga-Maritime in the Litoral Region, Cyrille Yvan Abondo, has threatened to withdraw projects from contractors who are ineffective in Dizangue, a town in the Division, and award them to more efficient companies.

Speaking during the mid-term evaluation session of the Dizangue Municipal Council, the SDO warned contractors of overdue projects within the Dizangue Municipality that the contracts would be seized from them and handed to competent contractors.

“Those who are not fit will be kept aside. We will give contracts to efficient enterprises to do the work,” he told journalists.

At the Council session, the SDO observed a very slow implementation of projects the Dizangue Council programmed for execution this year.

He said the execution rate of many of the Council’s public projects, such as road construction, is static.

This has left the population in distress as they battle with daily challenges like poor roads.

The poor condition of the roads has made travel along many roads in Dizangue difficult. Recent downpours have made this worse.

“We have no choice but to manage the roads like this. Ever since we were promised that the road would be rehabilitated, we are still waiting to date,” said a resident of Dizangue.

At the Council session, the SDO lauded the Dizangue Council’s revenue collection so far and called on the institution to minimize its expenditure and open up new sources of income.

“On August 31, the Council collected revenue at about 56%, while expenditures stood at 40%. This is highly appreciated,” the SDO noted, while encouraging Councillors to remain diligent and consistent.
