Mbu Catholic church Akum, Santa, Mezam Division Cameroon’s North West has been burnt down.
The incident occured Tuesday December 27, 2022.
No one has claimed responsibility for the inferno, but local sources say a warning notice was found at the scene.
“We don’t know whether the fire was caused by short circuit or burnt down by someone but that notice found there is what is keeping us worried wether the land had a problem,” a source told MMI.
The warning notice suggest that the land on which the church has been operating for years is in dispute.
“The land belong to a family. No trespassing. Do it at your own risk,” the warning notice reads without further details.
A reliable source has revealed that it was a disputed piece of land. “It was a deliberate act,” our source added.
There has been been no official reaction following the incident.
