School Resumption 2022/2023: North West Governor Respects Ghost Town, Fails To Visit Schools On Day One

By Soulemanu Buba

The traditional visit to schools on day one of school resumption by North West Regional Governor, Adolph Lele L’Afrique has failed to take place, 5 September 2022.

This is partly because learners are no where to be found as the streets are deserted caused by the traditional Monday ghost town operations with no signs of school resumption.

Many schools have not opened their doors, though some school authorities were seen cleaning up school compounds hoping that the days ahead will be different.

On every first day of a new school year, the governor always lead a delegation to some schools to assess the level activities in school campuses on the first day of resumption.

The visit to schools is yet to happened as there is no sign that the governor is going to make a stop over in some schools around the region this September 5, 2022.

This has been blamed on the traditional Monday Ghost Town Operations imposed by separatist fighters.

Sources at the governor’s office say the executive officer of the region will only go out when he is sure to meet teachers and learners.

During our visit to some government schools, we could spot uniform officers both in uniforms and plain clothes carrying heavy guns with no students around.

The situation in Bamenda I at Up Station believed to be enjoying relative calm is not different from the rest of the town.
