The Social Democratic Front (SDF) has issued a scathing criticism of what it describes as “unacceptable and highly reprehensible behavior” by sympathizers of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party.

They CPDM loyalists blocked an SDF delegation from passing through Biwong Bulu Subdivision in the South Region on Sunday, May 5.

In a statement, the SDF’s Shadow Cabinet Minister for Information and Communication, Nguidjol Ngan, called on the government to take action to prevent a recurrence of the incident.

CPDM party sympathizers mounted roadblocks along the Akom II – Biwong Bulu road in the South Region, disrupting the tour of SDF Chairman Joshua Osih and his delegation.

The blockade frustrated the delegation for at least three hours.

Nguidjol Ngan’s May 5 statement notes that the protesters not only erected roadblocks but were also “hurling insults, hateful and discriminatory remarks, threats and other intimidation of all kinds” against the SDF militants.

He asserted that the protesters were “on the pay roll of a few malicious Entrepreneurs, birds of Tribalism and Promoters of Hate Speech…”

He called on the government to ensure the safety of Hon Osih and his delegation and to prevent such behavior throughout his current tour.

Joshua Osih, who was elected National Chairman of the SDF in October 2023, has been on a nationwide tour since April 6.

He earlier explained that the purpose of the tour was to dialogue with grassroots Cameroonians to understand their problems and aspirations.

The tour has already taken him to the North, Far North, Adamawa, East, South West, and North West Regions. He has also been campaigning for youths to enroll on the voter’s list and participate in next year’s election, where he is preparing to challenge long-serving President Paul Biya.
