SDF Diaspora Demands ‘Autopsy’ Following Dismal Performance At Sunday’s Polls

Militants of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) party based in Germany, have requested the party’s hierarchy to probe into the root causes that culminated to its abysmal performance, at the just ended October 7, 2018 presidential elections.

In a strongly worded letter addressed to the Chairman of the party, Ni John Fru Ndi, Tuesday October 9 2018, the militants aired their frustrations with the manner with which the party carried out its campaigns that ended up with what they call, dismal performance.

“…SDF Germany proposes to the National Executive Committee to carry out a thorough autopsy of the endogenous and exogenous causes of our failure in the just ended October 7, 2018 presidential elections. In addition, the party should carry out reformations from the grassroots to the national body, in order to give it a new face,” they demanded.

Meanwhile, the militants from the diaspora called on the National Executive Committee (NEC), to mount pressure on the party’s presidential flagbearer, Joshua Osih, to resign as the first Vice President of the party.

“We urge NEC to pressure candidate Joshua Osih to resign as first Vice President of the party, as one of the measures to revamp the party,” the letter continued.

It should be noted that following the collation of votes and exit polls from the just ended presidential elections, the SDF party seemed to have lost many of its strongholds to other parties.

Speculations are rife that the party will face its worst performance yet, in this year’s presidential elections. G

oing by the exit polls, the party may likely lose its favourable second spot in the just ended presidential elections, to another party.

The campaign manager of Hon. Joshua Osih in the just ended election admitted that the deepening Anglophone crisis made things for the SDF in this year’s election.
