SDF to boycott Parliament, Upcoming Elections If…

The national assembly, the senate and councils in Cameroon may be void of elected representatives of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, by November 2019 if the regime of President Paul fails to resolve the Anglophone crisis.

In a position statement signed by SDF National Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi, the party maintains her stand that President Paul Biya declared the ongoing civil war in the country’s North West and South West Regions on 30th November 2017 and by implication reserves the right to call for an end to the war.

Ni John Fru Ndi states firmly that the decision of the SDF is mainly another stringent measures to let the government take decisions that will stop the killings, maiming, destruction of property, abductions, displacement of people and a lot more other ills that have been taking place in the North West and South West regions because of the war.

The SDF Statement

By this, he waved aside allegations that the SDF was respecting orders given by Anglophone separatist fighters.
In the position statement signed by the Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi after the National Executive Committee meeting of the SDF held in Douala on Saturday 10th August 2019, the SDF accuses Senators, members of parliament and councillors of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party from the North West and South West Regions of exhibiting ‘disturbing indifference and supporting the oppressive government irrespective of the frustrations and atrocities inflicted on Anglophones whom they pretend to be representing’.

For peace to reign, the SDF calls on officials of the CPDM party in the Anglophone regions to stop making political gains from the crisis.

On the question if schools can resume in the North West and South West regions by September, SDF says each and every individual in the North West and South West wants schools to resume but regrets that the environment is not conducive enough for schools to start. The party remains optimistic that if something is done by the government for peace to reign before September then schools can start.

SDF frowns at Anglophone activists controlling the crisis from the diasporas but fails to declare what it will tell them if given the opportunity.
