Cameroon’s Secondary Education Minister, Nalova Lyonga, has contributed 10 million FCFA to flood and landslide victims in Limbe and the South West Region of Cameroon.

The donation was made today, July 26, 2023, during a visit to those affected by the natural catastrophes at Down Beach and the Cassava Farms neighborhood.

Her move comes a few days after MMI published a video showing the devastating consequences of the floods.

Gilbert Acha Nkwenti, Secretary General of the Southwest Governor’s Office, represented the Governor of the South West Region during the visit.

Emmanuel Kontchou, Limbe’s second Deputy City Mayor, received the financial assistance.

Nalova Lyonga then promised 50 mattresses to the PMI Maternity Hospital, which had recently been flooded. According to her, the Minister of Territorial Administration would bring the mattresses in the next few days.

During her visit, the Secondary Education Minister urged residents to take cautious steps such as fleeing dangerous places to avoid more deaths.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, two people were killed in Mawoh quarters as a result of a landslide.
