The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh, has affirmed that the administration has put in place adequate security measures to thwart any attempts by separatists to enforce a change in taxi colors in Bamenda, to blue and white.
The SDO made this reassuring statement during the 2024 First Semester Administrative and Security Coordination (CCA/CCO) meeting held at the MINEPAT Conference Hall, Upstation, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
He emphasized that combating insecurity within Mezam is a collective responsibility.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Mooh acknowledged the backdrop of separatists’ calls for taxi drivers in Bamenda to change the taxi color from the recognized yellow to blue and white.
He added that despite these calls and a few incidents, security forces are determined to maintain order and prevent any forced changes.
The Administrative Security and Coordination meeting comes at a time when the number of yellow taxis in Bamenda is dwindling as separatists intensify their threats.
Bamenda residents now live in uncertainty as sporadic attacks on the population are gaining ground across the Division.
It is the desire of many a Bamenda resident to see the day when they talk about insecurity as a result of the armed conflict only in history books.
