2023 Senatorial Elections Bamenda: North West Governor Says “All Is Going Well”

The governor in Cameroon’s restive North West Region, Adolph Lele L’Afrique has reacted positively to the ongoing election of the senate in Bamenda, saying that the process has been ‘peaceful’ so far.

He was speaking to the press on Sunday, March 12, 2023 — after visiting four polling stations at Up-Station, Bamenda.

“I also want to appreciate the voters for making it to the polling station, today,” he said.

It should be noted that councillors who are electing their new senators arrived the Up-Station polling station at the same time because they had been ‘caged’ by the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM ahead of today’s elections.

The opposition described the the move as unacceptable and undemocratic.

The election is taking place amid lockdown called by Separatists fighting for an independent state called ‘Ambazonia’.
