Separatists attack CPDM convoy in Buea
A convoy transporting members of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) from Meme Division came under heavy attack by alleged separatist fighters in Muea around 1 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024. The incident was marked by a barrage of gunfire.
Eyewitnesses from the convoy described how the attack unfolded, with gunfire coming from multiple directions. “We were shot at from all angles as our convoy entered Muea. But the military quickly reacted with retaliatory shots while taking offensive positions against the invaders,” a source from the convoy revealed.
Despite the intense gunfire, the convoy managed to safely reach its destination at the Buea Omnisports Stadium. There, a film titled Paul Biya: A Great Statesman is scheduled to be shown at 4 PM.
The attack on the CPDM convoy came shortly after a warning issued by separatist leader Chris Anu, who had earlier placed a ban on the film’s projection and threatened violence in response.
In the wake of the attack, security measures have been significantly heightened throughout Buea to prevent further incidents.
