Separatist fighters are reported to have invaded Bache, a village in the Akwaya Subdivision, Manyu Division of the South West region.

They are reported to have killed three persons during the raid.

We gathered that the three persons killed were immediately buried by the armed men on January 4, 2023.

Talking to MMI, a resident of Bache said the fighters, “… entered Bache, shot and killed three innocent people, injured ten, forced six to drink a complete bottle of whiskey each, and set the palace ablaze.”

According to our source, huge sums of money and properties were also carried away from private homes and business premises.

“There was total robbery, looting, and destruction of properties in Bache. Those suffering from the severe effect of the whisky (ethanol) and the injured are presently in hospitals in Mamfe for medical attention,” he added.

The persons killed include; Pa Jonas Ekwale Abang aged 79, Mr. Ebai Ashu John aged 58, and Esua Desmond Kajang, aged 30.

Soldiers attacked and destroyed an Amba camp situated between the Manyu and the Ebinsi Rivers, fews days ago.

“These boys believed the Anyang community collaborated with the government /military to locate the camp,” our source said.

He added, “They promised to have the Anyang people pay dearly for that.”

Residents of the Bache village are calling for humanitarian assistance as most of them who have fled their village for safety — and are now stranded in nearby towns like Mamfe.
