Separatist General Robosco of Menchum Killed
Separatist leader, self-proclaimed General Robosco of Menchum in the troubled North West region, has been killed.
He served as the commander of the Tigers of Ambazonia, a separatist militia active in the Menchum division.
An administrative source in Menchum informed MMI that he was killed near Lake Nyos on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, during an operation by defense and security forces.
His death was confirmed in an audio message widely circulated by fellow separatists, who accused local residents of cooperating with the security forces.
“I come today with a heavy heart to publicly announce the death of ‘General’ Robosco of Menchum,” said a voice identifying itself as General Tiger.
According to him, General Robosco initiated separatist activities in Menchum when the Anglophone crisis escalated into an armed conflict.
“He was the first to start operations in Menchum, beginning in Furu-Awa. He took control of Furu-Awa and drove out the administration,” he disclosed.
He blamed local residents for the separatist leader’s death, accusing them of collaborating with authorities against the Ambazonia independence movement.
“He was ambushed today. He did his best, despite Menchum becoming a place of ‘blacklegs’,” he said, adding, “The blacklegs have been working closely with the administration and the Fulanis against the Ambazonia struggle.”
In his message, the speaker vowed to retaliate, saying, “We will respond. General Robosco, rest in power.”
