Ngenwie Emmanuella was full of life when she woke up from bed on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Little did the single mother, who was in her 30s, know that she would be no more before dusk. At about 2 pm this Tuesday, Emmanuella was killed in Mile 4 Nkwen, Bamenda, by armed men who eyewitnesses say were Ambazonia separatist fighters.
Eyewitness accounts say Emmanuella received a bullet from behind while escaping from separatists who were on transit near a salon. She had come there to plait her hair.
“We were in the salon. Amba Boys were passing and they went outside to see. As the boys discovered them, they opened fire and she was caught by a bullet from behind as she was trying to run,” an eyewitness told MMI.
She was rushed to a nearby health facility where she was confirmed dead.
Ngenwie Emmanuella, MMI gathered, is a former worker of the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation, CAMWATER.
She was an orphan and a single mother.
