A 39-year-old father has been arrested in Melong, in the Moungo Division, Littoral Region for constantly raping his two daughters aged 7 and 9.
The man, whose names reports say is Jules, has denied all allegations against him. His daughters meanwhile have confirmed with the authorities that they have been abused several times by their father, and warned never to tell anyone.
According to the Commander of the Melong Gendarmerie Brigade, the whole saga began when Jules found out his daughter had been raped by his neighbor. Rather than reporting the case, it is believed that Jules instead collected a bribe of FCFA 15,000 to buy his silence.
Medical tests reports on one of the girls reveal she has been infected with Chlamydia. Jules meanwhile has been taken to the Nkongsamba Court of First Instance where he will be tried.
