David 'Jestel' Shewa declares his intention to stand for the chairmanship of the SDF
By David Atangana
Shewa David, popularly known as ‘Jestel’, has declared his intention to vie for the post of national chairman of the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF).
He made public his intention on Friday, August 18, 2023, during a press conference in Yaounde, Centre Region, Cameroon.
The one-time unsuccessful parliamentary contestant for Ako-Misaje special Constituency is the third candidate to declare for the SDF top job.
National Assembly Questor, Osih Joshua Nambangi, and SDF chairman for Limbe 1 electoral district, Godden Zama, had both declared their intentions to run for the post of national chairman in the pending party’s elective convention.
Shewa David, who is also the Coordinator of the party for Donga Mantung, is a native of the Ako subdivision, Donga Mantung division of the North West region.
He contested the 2013 parliamentary elections in Ako-Misaje special Constituency under the SDF ticket and lost narrowly to the ruling CPDM candidate, Abbe Michael.
He now hopes to lead the SDF party at the national level, whose founding leader, Ni John Fru Ndi, died more than one month ago.
The national executive bureau of the party has yet to announce the date of the SDF elective convention.
