Cameroonians are yet to get over the death of journalist, Samuel Wazizi. The pressman died in military custody last year and is yet to get justice from authorities.
His family remains the most affected by his death. Yesterday, Wazizi’s aunt who had depended on him for her survival passed away.
Helen Asakwa, the aunt in question had reportedly taken ill since hearing news of the death of the journalist in detention.
“She has been very devastated since she got the news of Samuel’s death” a family member told Mimi Mefo Info.
“Eventually she could not bear it. We tried all we could to no avail” he added. Plans are being made to have her buried on Friday.
The death of Wazizi’s aunt comes few months after the military under pressure acknowledged that he had died in detention.
The case of Wazizi remains one of several pressmen that have been to and are still being oppressed by the Biya regime.
On Sunday, Stephen Ojong, reporter with The Advocate and Manyu Community Radio was arrested and is still being held by the forces of law and order.
