The Social Democratic Front (SDF) Chairman, Hon. Joshua Osih, demonstrated solidarity and empathy as he visited the victims of the recent Nkambe 11 February explosion, aiming to provide solace and support to those affected by the tragic incident.

Dr. Denis Nsame, the director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital where the most severe cases are being treated, reported that the condition of the five most critical patients has been stabilized. Osih commended the hospital staff for their dedicated efforts in caring for the victims, expressing gratitude for their commitment.

During the visit, Osih reiterated the party’s strong stand against violence, particularly when it targets innocent children. He unequivocally labelled such acts as “war crimes,” emphasising the gravity of the situation. Witnessing the suffering of children with multiple injuries, Osih urgently called for an end to these senseless acts of violence.

Reflecting on the broader implications of the Nkambe incident, Osih drew parallels to past tragedies in Kumba, Ekondo Titti, and beyond. He solemnly remarked, “We are dealing with individuals who have lost all sense of humanity,” underscoring the urgent need to address the root causes of such atrocities.

While acknowledging the Minister of Public Health’s commendable decision to provide free treatment for the victims, Osih also stressed the importance of ongoing post-traumatic care. He stated, “The victims not only require medical attention but also the necessary support to cope with the aftermath of this horrific event.”

In conclusion, Osih called upon the community to unite against violence, particularly when it affects the most vulnerable. He urged, “It is important for the children to know they are not alone,” emphasising the collective responsibility to protect the innocent from harm.

Hon. Joshua Osih’s visit served as a resolute call to action against acts of violence that inflict lasting scars on individuals and communities.
