There was an outcry last week of injustice in Bafut village in Cameroon’s North West Region as the military stormed the area wrecking havoc.
With most of the locals yet to recover, Sunday was the turn of Bessi village – Batibo, still in the North West Region.
A native of the area told this reporter “the military came to our village and burnt bikes they found at the carrefour.”
The raid did not end at that. The soldiers, the source continued “also broke into a young man’s welding workshop and went away with his equipments.”
Though no one was hurt, Bessi locals say they still don’t know what brought the soldiers their way. Being a hotspot for refugees, they say it has seen little with the last being the killing of a Prince some two years back.
Ever since President Biya’s end of year promise to hunt down separatist fighters who fail to surrender or drop their arms, acts of military aggression have intensified in the North West and South West Regions with more cases of rights abuses reported.
