Soldiers have reportedly thwarted an attack on a waste disposal company operating in Bamenda in the North West region.
According to one Suh who witnessed the incident, workers of the company were cleaning the streets of the Ntarikon neighborhood when armed men said to be from the ADF group attacked them.
“The workers were trying to clear the heaps of dirts that are doted almost everywhere in Ntarikon and other parts of Bamenda. The boys whom we know are members of ADF attacked them. Little did they know soldiers dressed in civilian wear were around. The boys opened fire and the soldiers retaliated,” Suh indicated.
He also told us that the armed men took to their heels when they realised that there was a heavy military presence around the area.
It should be noted that Bamenda town has heaps of garbage almost everywhere.
This has been blamed on the activities of ADF fighters whom many say have attacked the waste disposal company on several occasions killing some of it’s workers in the process.
Of recent, one worker was shot and wounded by the same fighters still at the Ntarikon neighborhood in Bamenda.Vehicles belonging to the company have been set ablaze.
Separatist fighters have accused the company of allowing their trucks to be used by government forces to attack them.
A resident of Mulang who opted for anonymity said,”Soldiers ones used a truck belonging to the company and attacked the boys at Street 5 Mulang. The fighters fought back and the soldiers ran away. The truck was set ablaze,” he continued.
