Inhabitants of Ewelle I village are in shoke and pain following a recent military raid in the village that led to the killing of three of their youths.

Sources on the ground have confirmed that those murdered in the early morning raid carried out by soldiers include: Agbor Peter, Agbor Mango and Ako Oben.

Same sources told Mimi Mefo Info that another person was severely wounded and carried away.

The villagers also went ahead accusing the soldiers of looting.

“They break into our house, took away TV sets , money and valuables,” a source who refused to be named revealed.

Other inhabitants said the military raid also extended to Ewelle II village as early as 4:00am”.

Quizzed on the current atmosphere in the village, our interlocutor said the “soldiers have withdrawn from Ewelle village. Everyone had escaped in bushes, some boys were arrested”.

It remains unclear why soldiers invaded the village. But villages are being attacked and set on fire with impunity by soldiers according to local NGOs working in the crisis-hit Anglophone regions.

However, the government of President Biya has maintained that soldiers are professional and are deployed in the restive regions to protect the civilian population.
