At least seven unarmed civilians have been indiscriminately shot and killed by soldiers in Buea Town, a quarter in the war-torn city of Buea, capital of Cameroon’s South West, Thursday September 27, 2018.
Some of the unarmed civilians are said to be young Muslims. According to eyewitnesses, the Muslim boys had woken up early to prepare for their 5:00am prayers.
Reports say as they gathered and were chatting at a popular spot in Babouti, a quarter in Buea Town, they were rounded up by the military and killed. Some died a few meters from the Mosque.
Six young men and an aged man were killed, bringing the number of deaths to 7. Though draught and cards have been spotted where they were killed, reports say they gathered around a restaurant where Muslims always drink tea.
It remains unknown whether they were pro-independence fighters but witnesses have testified that they were not armed.
