Special status: Northwest public independent conciliator gets to work

The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Simon Tamfu Fai has declared that his office is progressively gathering steam in its mission to act as the umbuds man of the regional assembly. He is currently educating people on his tasks while examining complaints from the public patterning to the conflict between service users and service providers.

Barely three months into office, the Public Independent Conciliator for the North West region has already listened to complaints.

“We have registered a few complaints that have come up. These complaints are being studied”, Simon Tamfu Fai said. “The Public Independent Conciliator is staying for the well-being of the population. Their approach is not to put the blame on anybody but to ensure that disputes are settled amicably so that people can stay in harmony and also defend and protect the rights of people.”

Mr. Simon Tamfu Fai has also been making moves to educate the population on the functions of the structure as his office had a very elaborate media outreach educating the population on the role they have to play.

Although the structure is yet to have an office space and staff appointed to it, there’s hope that things will be better in the months ahead.
