Student arrested “for setting University of Dschang on fire”

A student of the University of Dschang is in police custody. He is suspected of setting a building in the institution ablaze.

The yet-to-be-named individual was picked up after the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural Sciences, FASA, building went up in flames last night.

While many Cameroonians were out watching the African Nations Championship game, the suspect is accused of having sneaked into the school to commit the act.

The details of the incident are yet to be fully established, but sources say last night’s fire was not the first.

A source in the institution says “last year when students wrote their exams, the department of economics building was set on fire. Papers were in the office and all exams written on that day were burnt to ashes”.

“This year it has continued and the said student has been arrested,” he adds.
