There is said to be a rising increase in the number of kidnappings purportedly carried out by suspected Amba boys along the Bamenda-Ekok stretch of road linking the North West region to Nigeria via Mamfe.
We gathered that the rate at which persons using the stretch are being kidnappedfor ransoms, remains alarming.
On May 22, 2022, 10 persons were reportedly kidnapped after which the sum of 3 million was demanded for the release of each of the kidnappees.
According to a resident along the stretch, ” I am a farmer in this village, we have all left our farms.”
Reports have revealed the perpetrators of the said acts originate from Kipela, in Upper Manyu.
The said kidnappings are carried out on a daily basis in this locality, leaving the inhabitants with feelings of fear and insecurity.
