A man said to be specialised in the theft of fowls was caught on Sunday, July 31 at 3 am in a poultry in Nkongsamba, Littoral Region of Cameroon.
The man was reportedly caught by the Gendarmerie officers who had been waiting for him in the bush in a quarter known as Ediekap.
According to reports, residents had noticed a sudden decrease in the number of their fowls on a daily basis.
“As days went by, more fowls kept disappearing under mysterious circumstances,” said a source.
In a bid to unveil the cause of the sudden disappearance of fowls, residents resorted to involving elements of the Gendarmerie.
On Sunday morning around 3:00am, scream from chickens attracted the attention of the security forces.
When apprehended, the young man claimed he was rather in search of snails.
“… No boss there’s nothing! I’m looking for snails,” he decried.
After receiving a good doze of beatings by the population, the man was later transported by the Gendarmes to the brigade.
