Several taxis were deliberately set ablaze on Che Street in the Ntarinkon area of Bamenda II subdivision. The incident took place at a well-known petrol station, where the taxis were stationed.
According to eyewitnesses, the individuals fired shots into the air before setting the vehicles on fire. Mimi Mefo Info (MMI) is still in the process of confirming the precise number of taxis that have been affected.
This act of arson is linked to a controversial taxi color-change policy imposed by Ambazonia separatists in Bamenda. The policy, which has been attributed to Titus Nkonda, also known as MKPD, has led to significant unrest among local taxi drivers, many of whom have lost their livelihoods as a result.
Ayaba Cho Lucas has been recognised as a prominent advocate of this policy.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
