A teacher in Yaoundé has been accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old pupil in the school toilets. The incident has been reported at the Nkolondom Gendarmerie involving Che Clinton, a teacher at the Lumen Christi School in Olembe, Yaounde.
According to the victim’s mother, she noticed traces of blood on her daughter’s uniform two weeks ago, but she thought it might be from a possible wound.
“I said to myself that my daughter probably had a wound in her head. On the night of Sunday, January 29 I became more worried about the situation that I decided to go to the hospital with my daughter,” explains the mother.
Upon arrival at the hospital, medical reports confirmed the distressing incident involving the 7-year-old girl and the nature of the assault she endured. The findings indicate that the child has a perforated hymen, which is likely a result of the abuse.
“After consultation with my daughter she made me understand that It was a teacher from her school who inserted his fingers into her buttocks, torturing her and making death threats as he warned her not to say it to her teacher,” the mother further explained.
Currently, it remains uncertain whether the teacher in question has been taken into custody for further questioning.
The issue of sexual assaults in Cameroonian school environments remains a serious concern that requires immediate attention and collective action. The prevalence of such incidents not only violates the rights and dignity of students but also jeopardises the safety and integrity of educational institutions.
