Teacher found dead in decomposing state in Douala

A teacher named Alexander Itoe was found dead and in a decomposing state in his room in Makepe Missoke, Douala, leaving his neighbors in shock and consternation.

The body of Alexander, in his early 40s, was discovered in the morning of Thursday, January 25, lying on the ground in his room, having been out of sight since Monday.

The details surrounding his demise left residents in shock and consternation.

A neighbor of the deceased teacher explained that they were attracted to his room by a strong odour.

“This morning, some persons came asking for him. We even knocked his door but no one responded,” explained Tsague Jean, a neighbor to the late Alexander.

“We started getting some weird odours from his room. While some were calling the landlord, others called the police. When they came, we forced the door and discovered his body lying on the ground,” he further explained.

A colleague of the deceased, Ekosani Alexander, attested having seen the late teacher on Monday evening before his sudden disappearance.

“The last time we talked was on Monday evening, because I gave him a class, and we needed to talk on the number of days he would be coming to teach the class, and also the cost,” Ekosani said.

He added that all attempts to reach him on the phone since then proved futile.

“Even this morning I called him but he was not picking so I told the parent that I would get back to her,” he added.

Neighbors say the teacher did not exhibit any signs of illness before his tragic death.

The landlord of the deceased, Ngamkoue Elie, said he wasn’t aware of any illness he might have been suffering from.

“He had never told me about any health issues. In fact, he always paid his rent on time.”

The circumstances surrounding the teacher’s death remain obscure. It is not known whether he was killed, died a natural death, or voluntarily put a term to his life.
