Tension resurfaces in Wum As Two Killed By Suspected Fulanis

By Soulemanu Buba

Two men have been killed by armed Fulanis in Wum, Menchum Division of the North West Region of Cameroon.

The civilians were killed Friday July 29 2022.

Reports say an angry mob was spotted carrying the corpses to the Mosque in protest.

This is coming barely days after a meeting organised to find lasting solutions to the inter-communal tensions between the Aghem natives and Fulanis in Wum was held at the conference room of the Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum.

The meeting came after four Fulanis were killed by those whose identities have not yet been confirmed given that no group has claimed responsibility.

About 10 persons were wounded following the death of the young Fulanis.

Some are still responding to treatment at health facilities in Wum.

During the meeting, it was agreed that sanctions will be meted on anyone found quilty of formenting trouble on both sides.

As it stands, the efforts of the authorities seems to have hit the rocks as tension is gradually bouncing back following the killing of two Aghem natives.

It should be noted that Fon Bahmbi III, traditional leader of the Aghem people few days ago called for calm.
