Frankline Ekume Njume and Dr. Kingsley Ngange, erstwhile songbirds of Secondary Education Minister, Nalova Lyonga have finally fallen out of favour.
A very close aid to Minister Nalova, a certain Dr. Wacka Beri Joan Ali dragged the duo before the Yaoundé Court of First Instance.
According to dependable documents, on December 17, 2020, Dr. Wacka Beri Joan Ali deposited a “Preventive Engagement” complaint at the Yaoundé Court of First Instance, alleging that Franklin Ekume Njume, at the time, a Bursar at the Mendong Bilingual High School in Yaounde was involved in a social media attack on her personality.
Njume, who gained notoriety for his xenophobic activities against North West indigenes, is said to have been supported by the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Buea, Dr. Kingsley Lyonga Ngange, himself a xenophobe.
Dr. Wacka Beri Joan Ali wrote in an epistle that she was cornered by Frankline Njume to advise him on how to handle PTA levies in strict respect of the law. But the know-all Njume did not follow her advice, so she decided to leave him alone.
Following the incident, Njume used social media to tarnish Wacka’s reputation and sent terrifying attacks at her.
Franklin Njume is said to have vowed to defame Wacka when she decided to let him be.
Shortly after, Njume made several social media posts attacking her person and posing a danger to her life and those of her family.
In a social media forum called “Freedom Fight” and “South West United”, Franklin Njume is said to have circulated her pictures and was ably supported by Dr. Kingsley Lyonga Ngange.
They abused her, accused her of illegally acquiring wealth, and promised that she was not going to enjoy her building under construction, saying “She is a danger to the South West Region”
Court nails Njume, Ngange
The case was heard on April 23, 2021 in Yaoundé and a verdict delivered on May 17, Mimi Mefo Info understands.
The presiding Judge at the Yaoundé Court of First Instance on Monday, May 17, 2021, found them guilty of the charges and said that the intentions of the two men were obvious and geared towards creating public disorder.
In a verdict, the court “Notes that the conduct of Mr. Ekume Frankline Njume and Dr. Kingsley Ngange reveals an unequivocal intention to commit a crime that is likely to disturb public peace.”
Regarding Frankline Njume, the Court Clerk said, “Commits Ekume Frankline Njume to pay to the treasury the sum of five million CFA francs if he commits an infraction of this nature within one year.“
Concerning Dr. Kingsley Lyonga Ngange, Head of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of Buea, the court “Commits Kingsley Lyonga Ngange on his part to pay the sum of One million Francs CFA if he commits an infraction of this nature within one year.”
The court did not sentence them but warned that if such an attitude reveals itself within one year, they will pay huge fines.
Ngange and Njume are mobilising their lawyers to file an appeal.
Ngange cries foul
Dr. Kingsley Ngange, who is an associate professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, has been crying foul following the judgement.
He is quoted as saying that when he was defending Nalova Lyonga, then Vice Chancellor at the University of Buea, the likes of Wacka were nowhere to be found.
Wacka is known to be very close to Minister Nalova Lyonga and the minister is said to have influenced the court proceedings in order to punish Ngange and Njume who once served her.
Ngange, who has been webbed in many allegations of harassing students, reports say, is now set to be replaced as Head of the Journalism Department at the University of Buea.
