Renowned human rights advocate, Barrister Nkongho Felix, popularly known as Agbor Balla has publicly condemned the horrific murder of over 9 civilians by an armed group in Nacho junction, in Bamenda yesterday July 16, 2023.

The killers who our sources say are Separatist fighters arrived at a drinking spot and opened fire on a group of persons, killing at least 9 of them. The motive behind this attack so far remains clouded.

Barrister Agbor Balla has since condemned this gruesome attack, and demanded that the state does more to protect the civilians from such attacks which are becoming regular occurrences.

“The indiscriminate killing of more than 8 civilians at Nacho Junction in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon is unacceptable,” he said

“This widespread and systematic killing of civilians is gradually becoming the new normal. We must condemn the perpetrators of these gruesome, inhumane, and dastardly acts in the strongest terms. Human life is sacrosanct and the combatants must ensure that the civilian population is protected. Such killings in an attempt to terrorize the civilian population amounts to a crime against humanity,” the Barrister reacted on his social media page.

Among the victims of the attack, was a newly weded couple, whose lives were taken even before they could be a proper family. The carnage in Bamenda adds to other horrific acts that have shocked the Anglophone regions in the course of the Anglophone crisis.
