Three arrested for torturing 20-year-old girl in Douala

Some three ladies have been arrested by security forces for torturing a 20-year-old girl to near death in Mabanda, a locality in Douala IV municipality, Littoral region of Cameroon.

A viral video showed a group of six girls torturing, shaving, and stripping the 20-year-old girl, whose name we learned to be Marie Therese Ngolingock.
She was later poured hot water, which left her face deformed.

Three of the six members of the gang are said to be currently detained in a detention facility in the city after security forces launched an investigation.

The three arrested include 21-year-old Tuete Fogue Morelle Mesbine, 19-year-old Adiaba Mbessa Jeanne, and 17-year-old Foh Ndjol Zomedel.

Meanwhile, investigations are said to be ongoing for the other members of the group to be brought to book.

It is alleged that the girls were part of a gang of sex traffickers based in a renowned snack bar in Douala. They reportedly engaged in settling scores with the young Ngolingock over a man.

Widespread condemnation

The brutal act on Ngolingock has been widely condemned by many, who are demanding that justice prevail and the culprit be jailed.

“I am still trying to understand where such young girls take their courage from. What kind of movies they watch and if they have blood flowing in their veins or something else,” lamented Vicky Ngwem, a Facebook user.

Following reports of the arrests, another Facebook user, Enanga, likened the young girls to “Animals in human form… Miss Prison contest awaits you all. At least you will be useful in there,” she said.

Contrary to information earlier circulated on social media, the young Ngolingock did not succumb to her injuries. She is currently responding to treatment at a medical facility in Douala.

This is just one of the many cases of domestic violence perpetrated by women against fellow women.

A similar incident occurred last year in Molyko, Buea, the capital city of the South West region. A young lady, after being lured by a group of three girls, was tortured, shaved, and stripped naked for allegedly having an affair with the boyfriend of one of the aggressors.
