Three arrested over missing 85 MFCFA at Cavaye Yeguie’s home

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, has ordered the arrest of several of his relatives in relation to over 85 million FCFA which went missing in his residence in Tokombéré, Far North Region.

According to sources, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril himself arrived at the gendarmerie brigade of Tokombéré to make the declaration.

The money was stolen on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

A total of three suspects have been arrested.

Among them is Valet, the younger brother of Cavaye Yeguie Djibril and a notable from the Mada chiefdom headed by Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

“The notable was however heard by the gendarmerie brigade and then released according to our information. The other two would still be guarded by the gendarmes,” an MMI reporter in the Far North Region revealed.

In office as President of the National Assembly since 1992, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has accumulated 30 years in office.

Like many Cameroonian leaders, he is suspected of using his position of responsibility to enrich himself. Some observers also wonder how such an amount can end up in the home of a public official.
