Morocco has canceled its participation at the African local players championship (CHAN) which starts this Friday, January 13th, 2023.
This follows Algeria’s rejection of their request for a direct flight on board national carrier RAM.
According to the Moroccan Royal Football Federation, “they were not given permission for a trip departing from Rabat-Sale towards Constantine airport via a flight of the Royal Air Maroc the official carrier of Moroccan national teams.”
It should be noted that since 1994, Algerian airspace has remained closed to all Moroccan flights.
The CHAN tournament kickstarts today January 13, with Cameroon in Group E alongside Niger and Congo.
