Soldier shoots colleague to death in Far North

A soldier has been shot dead by his peer in the North Far region of Cameroon.

This followed a bitter altercation.

The incident occured in Mozogo, a locality in the Mayo Tsanaga Division.

According to reports, ‘the unfortunate’ incident which took place on January 12, 2023, is not the first of its kind.

The killer said to be a T19 army Soldier gunned down the 2017 contingent gendarme after both parties had a misunderstanding, which resulted in a fight.

“They first began the hand-to-hand fight with punches, but only the soldier was seen dominated by the gendarme, the latter went to get his weapon and opened fire at close range on his colleague,” said an MMI reporter.

The victim, succumbing to the fatal shot did not escape death. He died on the spot.

An investigation has been opened at the mozogo brigade to determine the cause of the problem.
