Cameroon: Two prisoners killed while attempting to escape jail

Two prisoners have been shot to death at the Tcholliré main prison in the North Region of Cameroon.

They were killed during a massive jailbreak.

The gang of 11 prisoners attempted to escape from the Tcholliré main prison on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

According to reports, three prisoners attacked and overpowered the guard on duty at the moment of the incident.

This gave way for the 11 prisoners to rush out of the prison premises.

“They managed to cross the penitentiary wall when the alert was given. Immediately the pursuers were able to arrest two fugitives,” revealed Le jour, adding that, “Two others, however, cornered, refused to comply with the orders of their pursuers. They were shot after the usual warnings.”

A manhunt has been launched to retrace the seven prisoners who successfully escaped during the massive jailbreak.
