At least three people have been killed and one other reportedly injured in separate incidents in Bamenda and Bali-all in Mezam Division of the North West Region.

These tragedies resulted from gun attacks perpetrated by unknown armed men in the night of Sunday February 9.

At about 10pm MMI gathered, gunshots were heard at Che street, a neighbourhood in Mankon-Bamenda. The smoking guns led to the death of an unidentified young man and another also injured. The injured was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. It is unclear if  the two young men were targeted or not.

PCC Victims

In a similar incident two individuals said to be top Christians of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, (PCC), were also killed in a targeted attack in Naka, a locality in Bali Nyonga located on the outskirts of Bamenda.

The victims of the attack locals sources say included George Fomatum, Chairman of the Presbyterian Church Naka congregation, and Chanceline, the President of the Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) of the same congregation.

They were reportedly pulled out of their houses and shot death by the attackers.

No group has claimed responsibility of the tragic incidents.

Local administrative authorities have also not reacted.

Killings have continued rock Bamenda as elsewhere in Cameroon’s Anglophone Regions as the Anglophone crisis enters the eighth year with no end in sight.

Such targeted killings have become more common. This is as some separatist fighters and persons claiming to be separatists are now available as killers for hire.
