Tiko: CDC Workers Freed After 10 Days In Amba Captivity

The nine workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) abducted by separatist fighters over a week ago regained their freedom yesterday.

The victims were released on January 23rd, 2022, after 10 days in amba captivity.

No casualties were reported amongst the now freed captives, as all nine got home unharmed.

In an amateur video shot after their release, the freed victims, alongside family and friends are seen celebrating the return, with drinks and exchange of hugs.

Few days after they were whisked off the work zone, a video circulated on social media, indicating that their abductors had handed rifles to the victims, stating that they must go and engage the military in Tiko since they cannot obey their instructions.

After the release, the CDC Estate Manager revealed that all the victims have been rushed to the Tiko CDC Cottage hospital for medical examination.

Many people have noted that this incident will once again kill the morale of workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation, a company that is still struggling to stabilize itself since the crisis escalated into an armed conflict in 2017.
