Over a dozen families are homeless in Tiko town; Fako division of the South West region of Cameroon.
This follows a fire incident in a building constructed with blanks at Long Street quarter.
One of the victims speaking to the press has accused Cameroon’s lone electricity company of being responsible.
“There was no light and when it suddenly return with high voltage around 11:20 pm Friday February 5th 2021, our connection sparked flames burning down the entire house”.
To the victims, most of their belongings including school materials of children have been reduced to ashes.
“Let ENEO company pay us compensation for all this damage. Where do we start life when all have been burn?. Because of the crisis, we are no longer working with CDC ” A victim remarked .
Inhabitants of Fako division say blackout has worsened in the division since the beginning of the African Nations championship on the 16th of January 2021. The accused the electricity company of prioritising areas where delegations for the championship are lodged.
